Spring Gam - May 26 & 27
Please join us for the Boston Station Spring Gam on May 26 and 27, 2012. The plan is to gather at Cuttyhunk Harbor on the afternoon of Saturday, May 26th, and find anchorage there for the night. Slips and moorings will be available for a fee and that time of year the anchorage should have plenty of space, as well. We will want to arrive there early enough (1530 hours) to take part in a special visit and tour of Penikese Island arranged for us by Jim Newman, Chairman of the Board of the Penikese Island School. Members that would like to take the tour will gather on M/V Gunsmoke in the Cuttyhunk inner harbor for the ride to the Penikese Island dock. For a modest pass the hat fee ($5 or $10), the CCA rum keg will be fully charged and Gunsmoke Clams Rolls served on the ride over and at the dock. No alcohol beverages are allowed on the island. We will return to the Cuttyhunk inner harbor by 1800 hours to allow members and their guests to prepare dinner on their own boats.
On line registration is available now using this link:

On Sunday, we will sail up the Bay to Sippican Harbor in Marion for cocktails and dinner at the Beverly Yacht Club. The special menu for the evening features hearty hot and cold hors d’oeuvres to start followed by a first course Classic Caesar Salad and then a main course of Grilled Petit Beef Tenderloin with Red Wine Demi Glace & Maryland Crab Cake with Chipotle Aioli served with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Fresh Green Beans. For desert fresh Strawberry/Blueberry Shortcake will be served with Coffee Service. The price per person is $49.00 which includes one bottle of red and white wine per table. Cash Bar or Member Charge for additional drinks. Dinner is open to all members and their guests including those that come by land. Those that come by sea will be directed to a complementary BYC mooring.

• Member Tim Trautman suggests we pick up a copy of Penikese, Island of Hope, written by I. Thomas Buckley. It’s available in paperback, approx. 100 pages and can be found at amazon.com. It is a history of Penikese Island and its owners and inhabitants for the last 300 years and especially the case histories of the sufferer’s from Hansen’s Disease (once known as leprosy) who were interned there during the first quarter of the 20th century.
